I finally managed to see one of Doha’s top tourist spots and I couldn’t be happier. I went to the Museum of Islamic Arts yesterday and I am still simply in awe of the beautiful architecture. I read somewhere that the architect who built it didn’t want to build a museum in the middle of the city, crowded with other buildings. Instead, this artificial island was built for him to make this museum on.

What I find most attractive about the site is the symbolism. Like the semi-oval shape at the top of the museum denotes the eyes of an Arabic lady gaping through her veil.

One thing that seemed very unique was the way all exhibits are displayed in a glass box with dim lights. It allows you to focus all your attention on the particular item, like it commands your attention.

Here are a few pictures I took. Enjoy!
